What is the Gala Plácido?

The Gala Plácido is an institutional event with the intention of becoming an annual occurrence, whose aim is to recognize the work of professionals in the audiovisual sector and highlight Manresa’s role as an excellent filming location. The first edition of this ceremony was held at the Kursaal Theatre and was created to commemorate two fundamental milestones: the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Manresa Film Office and the 65th anniversary of the filming of the classic "Plácido", by director Luis García Berlanga, in the streets of our city.

The Event

The ceremony transforms the city into a large photocall and a red carpet full of cinematic glamour, where the setting of the main event is directly inspired by the world of cinema, with elements such as the display of spectacular vintage vehicles used in notable film shoots, like a 1960s Lincoln Continental and a Jaguar XK8. This inaugural gala was hosted by actress Cristina Brondo and featured institutional remarks from the mayor, Marc Aloy, and from the head of the Manresa Film Office, Aleix Farrés.

The Honorees: The Plácido Awards
The centerpiece of the evening is the presentation of the Plácido Awards. These awards are intended to pay tribute to companies, technicians, performers, and directors who maintain a close professional and emotional connection with Manresa. The professionals recognized in the first edition were:

Direction: Manresa native David Victori, Fernando Trullols and Balter Gallart.
Performance: Actors Miki Esparbé, Marc Martínez and Mario Gas, and actress Vicky Peña.
Cinematography: Carles Gusi.
Special Effects and Makeup: David Martí and Montse Ribé (Oscar winners).
