Synopsis: In 1755, in the heart of Enlightenment Spain, a young woman from a powerful family is sent to an isolated cloistered monastery to avoid a family scandal. Once there, she discovers that several novice nuns are suffering from a strange and unsettling blood illness. An unconventional Franciscan friar, Father Rubís, investigates these events using alchemical methods that clash head-on with the prevailing scientific thought of the Age of Enlightenment. The plot delves into the myth of vampirism to explore the conflict between reason and faith, religious fanaticism, and the social reality of women of the time, often subjected to ecclesiastical power against their will.
