Chapel of Saint Mark

Former industrial area located at the confluence of the Torrent de Sant Ignasi and the Cardener river, which has been rehabilitated in recent years, slowly transforming into a residential area.

Typology/Elements

Gothic construction with a single rectangular nave with a slightly pointed roof reinforced by two pointed arches made of ashlar. The apse is flat and the presbytery is slightly elevated. Its surface area is approximately 120 m2. Two windows located on the south side and a rose window on the west façade provide lighting for the space. The entrance is on the west side, a semicircular arched doorway with voussoirs. On either side of the door, although very faintly, the Manresa city coat of arms can still be seen sculpted in low relief. The façade finishes with a simple bell-gable. Two buttresses on the southern side support the wall. On the northern side, the chapel is attached to houses. The masonry consists of stone blocks of different sizes arranged in courses, but in some areas it is quite irregular and even includes sections of brick and small stones.
