Arpa kiosk
The kiosk is located in Plaça de Fius i Palà, right at the beginning of Carrer del Born, in a pedestrian-priority area.
Typology/Elements
Modernist-style kiosk, forming a harmonious ensemble with the also modernist house, "ca la Buresa", located in the same square. Its typology is typical of the early century, a time when cities were beautified as a result of economic and bourgeois development. It is a detached building of small dimensions, which was and is intended for the sale of newspapers and magazines. It has a square floor plan, with dimensions of 2.20 x 2'20m. And an internal height of 3.2m. Its structure has a classicizing feel, and three clearly distinct parts should be identified. First, a carved stone base with geometric and floral motifs, a wood and glass body, which resolves the transition to the roof through a decorative band conceived as a capital. And finally, the roof with a barrel vault in the form of a cross, made of embossed aluminum. The construction is crowned with worked iron elements, which give the ensemble a slender appearance.
