Born Street

Born Street emerged from the expansion of the walls (originally from the 13th and 14th centuries), which took place in the 14th century. Over the years, especially in the second half of the 19th century, it became the epicenter of the commercial axis.

The name of Born Street means to stroll or wander, since it is a street that is suitable for that because it faces south and is flat compared with many other streets in the medieval city.
With the construction of the Eixample and the city's growth toward the north, the traditional commercial axis gradually shifted toward La Plana and Born. The change in location became more pronounced during the second half of the 20th century, with a number of highly specialized businesses that have endured over time (some of these establishments are nearly 100 years old).

Although today many of the traditional establishments have been replaced by clothing and accessories franchises, some heritage values, both interior and exterior, still remain in many of these commercial premises.
