Can Jorba

Building that, in itself, establishes a strategic position in the center of the city and at the point that marks the boundary between the old walls and the new consolidated urban fabric in the area around Passeig and Vic road. In its origins, the space served the function of commercial galleries; currently it is dedicated to tertiary space and, on its ground floor, to commercial space.

Tipology/Elements

Building occupying a corner plot at one of the city’s main thoroughfares. Its façades are beautiful and are extensively decorated with highly stylized plant motifs distributed rhythmically across the entire surface. The part where the side façades converge is what could be called the main façade, of quite small dimensions, which is similarly decorated but is also crowned by a structure that perhaps tops off the entire decoration: a kind of pinnacles. The glass in all the openings is frosted, very much in keeping with the decoration, and in some of them the ornamentation continues thanks to its combination with iron. On the ground floor there is a vestibule. The reinforced concrete structure is very noteworthy, as it was one of the first built in Manresa.
