Manresa City Council

The Town Hall building is in neoclassical style (18th-20th centuries), although over the years it has been renovated and expanded on several occasions. The building is located in the center of the old town, framed within the first walled enclosure (12th century), presiding over the main square and with its back to theBasilica of Santa Maria de la Seu.

Typology/Elements

  • Structure: Neoclassical stone building (square floor plan). It is organized around a central courtyard covered by a skylight, where a walkway and modern access points added in 2008 stand out.

  • Exterior: Symmetrical main façade with a large five-arch porch at the base, balconies on the noble floor, and a crowning cornice and gargoyles.

  • Interior: It features a porticoed vestibule and a grand staircase. Notable spaces include the Assembly Hall, the Council Chamber, and the Gallery of Illustrious People from Manresa (decorated with 21 paintings).
