Lluís de Peguera Institute
A neo-Catalan Modernist-style building (inaugurated in 1927) made of stone, with an irregular structure and a highly decorated façade. At the bottom it features some arches (in the central section) and a porch whose side spaces connect with the rear courtyard. It has two wings that were built much more recently, extending and enlarging it and spoiling the building, since these two annexes are in a degraded rationalist style that significantly diminishes the old structure. Thus, while the original is entirely made of stone, the new one is made of aluminum and blue glass.
The facility also includes a library, a gym and multi-sport court, laboratories, technology workshops, music rooms, art workshops, a dining room/bar, and an assembly hall. The latter stands out for its architectural beauty.
Assembly hall
Within the complex, the highlight is the assembly hall located on the first floor of the central building. It is accessed through a central door topped by a segmental arch and consists of two floors (the second reserved for the galleries). The Manresa parliamentary hall features a spacious, column-free area of great height with a Christian cross plan measuring 20 m in length and 16.5 m in width. The two arms are 7 meters wide. The atrium is presided over by three large upper windows crowned with three semicircular arches. All openings are made with stained glass decorated with floral motifs. The three sections are divided by pilasters with moldings topped by two heralds with the coat of arms of Manresa on their chest.
