Balcells Factory

Located in Montserrat Square, this majestic building of neoclassical industrial architecture with English influence was built in 1890 as a factory and currently houses the Municipal Music Conservatory. The space stands out for its emblematic "multi-storey factory" structure, with a clear square floor plan, a vertical access tower and large windows decorated with brick that maximize natural light. Thanks to the careful rehabilitation and soundproofing renovations carried out between 1997 and 2002 to adapt it to its new cultural use, the building has preserved the original essence and aesthetics of the stone walls together with the cast-iron columns and beams, becoming a model of urban efficiency that enjoys a strong monumental presence next to the church and the new courthouse.
